Spring in Cyprus is magical and colorful. Cherry and almond trees blossom all around the island, and the scenery becomes absolutely gorgeous! Wherever you go, the landscape is lusciously green, rendering springtime in Cyprus absolutely beautiful. Due to its ideal position in the Mediterranean Sea, early spring in Cyprus has a comfortable temperature of 19°C during daytime, gradually rising to 28°C until the end of springtime. Coupled with the scenic landscape, all three spring months are ideal for strolls in the countryside, hikes in the mountains, escapes to quaint villages, excursions to one of the numerous national parks, relaxation and sunbathing, and, if you are more adventurous, even some swimming in Cyprus’ sandy blue flagged beaches.

The island offers diverse activities one could enjoy all year round. Nonetheless, springtime, when the daytime temperatures are really pleasant, is ideal for excursions and explorations. For archeology lovers, there are various ancient ruins to admire, while walking among the gorgeous red anemones that the island is filled with in early spring, learning about the island’s interesting history and culture throughout the centuries. The most scenic landscape though is from April to mid-May when spring is full force. Arguably, the best month to visit Cyprus is April, when the sky is always clear, the days are sunny, the landscape is exquisite while the sea temperature is gradually rising if you want to swim in the island’s turquoise clear waters. It is the best time to organize outdoor activities, day trips and excursions, in order to explore the island’s unique beauty. The countryside comprises many charming traditional villages with beautiful churches and monasteries, hospitable inhabitants, and the best tavernas where you can taste the famous Cyprus meze.

For those who love nature trails, or for avid hikers, Cyprus has a number of nature trails in which one can come across 1,950 species of flowering plants, 140 of which grow solely on the island. The most memorable hikes in terms of natural beauty are definitely in the pristine Akamas Peninsula, which is also the ideal place for off-road adventures. The three official natural trails of the area are Adonis Trail, the Aphrodite Trail, and the Smigies Trail. All three trails encompass incredible view, stunning gorges and valleys, various rock formations as well as a curved coastline.  Particularly in April, when the pink cyclamen flowers blossom, one should definitely visit the Baths of Aphrodite, a natural grotto that lies underneath a huge fig tree, which gives access to both Adonis and Aphrodite trails. Troodos mountains also offer amazing nature trails, such as the Artemis, the Atalanti, the Kalidonia and the Persephone trail, where one can breathe clean air, admire wonderful waterfalls, and appreciate breathtaking views of unspoiled beauty.

The choice of places to visit in Cyprus during spring is endless. You can drive through the wine routes and stop at wineries to try local wine and other drinks, such as commandaria and zivania, accompanied by delicious Cyprus delicacies. You can spend some time at the beach, either at the sandy beaches of Limassol, Larnaca and Famagusta, or the rocky crystal-clear beaches of Paphos and particularly the blue flagged beaches of Akamas area. When in Akamas, you can definitely see the abundant flora and fauna of the island during idyllic walks or adventurous hikes. The island’s history is also remarkable. Springtime is warm enough for organizing tours among the various different historic sites. Are you in the mood for picnic and naps under the warm sun? In the countryside, you may visit some magnificent lakes, dams and fields, where you can breathe fresh air, play outdoor games, or just relax under the sun in order to absorb the much-needed Vitamin D.

Between mid-March to end April, you will be able to see the most spectacular wildlife, such as endemic orchids and fragrant wild herbs, in the best climate that is characterized by clear skies, warm and bright sun, and long relaxing days. Larnaca’s mountainous areas have four remarkable nature trails that encapsulate the island’s unique and astounding beauty. Apart from nature trails, there are also some amazing cycling routes which you can combine with a delicious meal at one of the many traditional tavernas of the area. Also, agrotourism is at its best during springtime, when the landscape of the countryside blossoms into a magical scenery, especially in the distinctive villages of Larnaca district, including Lefkara, Kato Drys, Vavatsinia, Tochni and Kalavasos. There, you can stroll around the narrow roads, admire traditional architecture of stone-built houses, visit some beautiful churches and remote monasteries, and simply forget any worries that may trouble your mind and disturb your inner calmness.

While the most popular tourist season in Cyprus is the summertime, we definitely recommend that you visit the island during spring, as it is the best season to enjoy various activities, especially if you want to avoid too much sun and crowded places.
